The Boston Bruins have signed young forward Ivan Ivan to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season.
The Bruins acquired Ivan from the Colorado Avalanche over the weekend in exchange for former first-round pick Fabian Lysell.
Ivan appeared in nine games last season with the Avalanche, posting one assist, three hits, and a plus-1 rating.
The signing comes as the Bruins look to bolster their roster after a 45-27 record and a fifth-place finish in the Eastern Conference, on a W2 streak, as of their last result, a 1-4 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on May 1, 2026.
The Bruins will be hoping Ivan can develop into a full-time NHL player.
Ivan spent the bulk of last season with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL, recording 11 goals, 15 assists, and 26 points in 66 games.
Ivan also played in 40 games for the Avalanche during the 2024-25 campaign, posting five goals, three assists, and eight points.
The Bruins' signing of Ivan is a strategic move to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
And with Ivan's experience in the AHL, he may be called upon to play for the Providence Bruins if he doesn't make the NHL roster.
But for now, the focus is on Ivan's development and potential impact on the Boston Bruins.
So the Bruins will be closely watching Ivan's progress in the coming months.
Ivan's contract has a cap hit of $850,000 at the NHL level, which could be a steal if he performs well.
The Bruins are currently standing at 5th in the Eastern Conference, with a 45-27 record, and will look to improve their standing with Ivan on board.
