Boston Bruins alum Milan Lucic has joined the Buffalo Sabres staff as a pro scout after announcing his retirement from the NHL on June 7.
The former forward played 1,177 career NHL games, logging 233 goals and 353 assists for 586 points.
Lucic was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the 2006 NHL Draft and started his professional career with the team.
He stayed with the Bruins until 2015, when he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
Lucic's retirement and new role with the Sabres mark the end of an era for the Bruins, who currently stand 5th in the Eastern Conference with a 45-27 record.
The team is on a W2 streak, looking to make a push in the playoffs.
Lucic will bring his expertise to the Sabres, who have also hired Stacy Roest as director of player personnel and general manager of the Rochester Americans.
The Bruins will look to fill the void left by Lucic's retirement, potentially through free agency or trades.
And with the NHL season still underway, the Bruins will focus on making a deep playoff run.
But for now, they'll have to do it without one of their former stars, who is starting a new chapter in his career.
So the Bruins will move forward, looking to build on their current success and make a push for the Stanley Cup.
Lucic's legacy with the Bruins will be remembered, including his 2011 Stanley Cup win with the team.
The Bruins are currently playing well, with a strong record and a good chance of making a deep playoff run.
